THOMPSON M1921

This is a type of Outrun Gus type in a model before thing regulation.
Reminded of great Sergeant Thunders in a TV program “Combat”, I bought this model and attached an optional compensator to it. Viewed from the left, it gives off such special blue which has never been seen in any other models I got afterwards and I really like it.

 looked from muzzle
I used to play a lot with this model, designed to fire from the open bolt and fairly functional with paper CAP, though I sometimes felt a bit fool, like, “God, what am I doing?”. It took as much as an hour to prepare for 20 shots, and a few seconds to fire, then another an hour to clean up, you know.
Until now, it has managed to keep in good condition despite such heavy use and poor treatment under which the rust would fall from the muzzle when it was turned downward.
To restore it to life, I decided on a 45CP real-size cartridge, currently marketed and easily-available, so that I can use it in common with my other 45 models, and besides, I’m planning to use CAP this time.
(The CP cart for this model is still available, which I found on the web the other day, and what is more, we could expect its special cart to come to hand, now that its new model has been on sale.)
I thought it was easy, because the sizes of the cartridge of original paper CAP and the 45CP real size cartridge were not different so much and it was OK to make a detonator for CP. But a difference of position occurred between the squarish cartridge of paper CAP and the 45CP real size cartridge with round point because the timings that cartridges hit the feeding ramp might were difference, and the hole that the detonator of the closed-system cartridge enter was also small, so that the cartridge has been placed between the detonator and the bolt.
Moreover, because the reinforcement rib stood in the bottom of the chamber, and it touched the point of the cartridge when this rib sent the cartridge, it didn't become a fire. So, I suitably cut down the edge of the rib not to touch the point of the cartridge.

The tip of cartridges I had became uneven because of it.

Original Detonator

Screw Detonator
It is detonator which this uses a screw, and it made.
When I executed the ignition test of CP with this detonator temporarily, BLK was done well.
I brought it to an offline meeting under such a condition, and fireing about 40 in total.
I succeeded in shooting a full magazine of 20 bullets continuously, somehow.
Though I came home with pleasure and took it to pieces for cleaning, the detonator has bent.
With a screw made of a soft material, it seemed to have been defeated at the impact of an open bolt and the power of CP after all.

Stick Joiner
I can do something about even hard materials if I have a lathe・・・.
I found such a thing when I considered it because only an electric drill had a tool.
It`s Stick Joiner (Φ6) of ACRYSUNDAY Co.,Ltd.
It is the materials which it is easy to sharpen with a thing of chrome plating finish of Brass.
It is Brass, but seems to be stronger than a screw because it is solid. And it seems to be easy to take detonator in a center if I just leave only a part of a bottom.
In addition, a screw is M4 of an old JIS screw.
Possibly a screw may accord in an old model.
How will be life of this detonator?
I play for a while and add a postscript again.
